Cllr Barry Goldbart is a member of the Economy and Tourism Overview and Scrutiny Panel. He said: “Bournemouth Council makes sure that the beach is clean and secure. We even encourage families with children to go to the beach often as it is that secure. We make sure that there are enough lifeguards on the beach.”

Bournemouth beach has been named as the best beach in UK in a poll conducted by TripAdvisor, one of the largest travel sites in the world. It came fourth among the best beaches in Europe.

Lorraine Duggins, from Essex, frequently travels to Bournemouth to enjoy the beach. She said: “We have been coming down for the last 27 years. We often stroll along the beach and it’s one of our favourite places.

“I think it’s one of the places you always come back to because it has everything: nice shopping centres, fabulous beaches and a stunning scenery.”

Marion Vickerstaff, who owns a hut on the beach, said: “It is one of the best beaches because it is very clean, always well maintained, lots of people come here for holidays or live here. They’ve got all beach houses along here so you can either rent them or buy them and it is a nice community.”

Cllr Goldbart said: “We are really happy that it has been rated the best, as we do make sure each and every person has a good time at the beach. Nowadays couples who want to have a beach wedding can have one conducted in Bournemouth beach.”
