“Get people more active, more often”

BH Live the leisure and cultural trust, is also the operator of most sport centres in Bournemouth and is planning to launch more physical activities and fitness programs within the local area in the future. Karen Yun finds out what the future holds for sport centres associated with BH Live.

The first wave of their plan is the FeelGood Factory, which will be taking place inside Pelhams Park Leisure Centre. Launching in March, the FeelGood Factory is targeting at female customers in particular. It will provide small group exercise classes, in a women only environment each session with last 30 minutes.

Peter Gunn, Chief Executive for BH Live, said “The serious element is to attract people into exercise who are put off by the traditional gym setting.”

Apart from encouraging the public to do more physical activites, BH Live is also hoping that the FeelGood Factory can offer help and rehabilitation exercise to people who have are getting back into exercise for various reasons including medical conditions. The BH Live team is prepared to work with the medical profession and GP’s and help people who are injured to help them to get back into fitness to help change their life style.

In his interview with The Breaker, Gunn also reveal that after FeelGood Factory, has another large development project planned that will be opened in Littledown Sport Centre. With a £300,000 investment, BH Live is planning to create High rope Adventure area that will bring people into an un-utilised area of Littledown.

“The part of our vision as an organisation is to create more opportunities, and in the sporting area our ambition is getting people more active, more often.” Gunn added.

By launching more physical activity programs, BH Live hopes to bring more energy to Bournemouth, increasing the publics interest in exercise and their use of leisure sport facilities for health benefits.
