Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward, following an assault on a Blandford man on Thursday.

The 18-year-old man was assaulted from behind at some point between 7.30pm and 7.45pm, as he walked over the blue bridge between Stour Meadows and Morrison’s car park.

The victim fled to a nearby skatepark after the attack, where he was met by a friend.

He was taken to Dorset County Hospital with minor injuries to the knees, face, head and arms

Blandford Police Constable Richard Cooke said: “This was a cowardly and unprovoked attack.”

It is unclear wether the victim was attacked by an individual or a group of people and PC Cooke said he was keen to hear from anyone with information regarding the incident.
