A man in his 30s continues to be treated in hospital after being found with stab wounds in his back on Old Christchurch Road.

His condition is described as serious but not life threatening.

A 23-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent following the incident which occurred at 6.35am.

A 26-year-old, also from Bournemouth, has also been arrested on suspicion of assault. Both men are known to the victim.

Forensic officers and a scientific investigation team were on the scene and removed a duvet, puffer jacket and toilet roll from the pavement.

They have cleaned most of the blood from the site, but some spots can still be seen.

A resident said: “It’s just scary. You don’t want to come out in the early hours do you?”

Paul Jakobsson, 29, from Bournemouth said: “This part of town is notorious, there are always drunken fights.

“This is like the aggro area. It’s such a random time of the day to happen. It’s the strangest time.”

The cordon was lifted at midday and stretched from J Sainsbury’s pizza bar to For Your Eyes Only.

Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour, of Bournemouth CID, said: “Investigations are currently underway into this incident which took place inside an address.”
