Residents in Christchurch are calling for change after a rat infestation has taken over homes and gardens for the past two years.

Environmental experts said homeowners on Troak Close will have to pay £40 per household to get rid of the rodents, but everyone must take part in the scheme for it to work.

Resident Ian Webb said: “People have got fed up and moved, you can go outside at night and [the rats] are quite happily wandering up and down the road.

“They’re are all over the place, they’re destroying all the kids toys in the gardens and they’ve eaten through sheds.”
