A 3-1 victory over Reading yesterday placed AFC Bournemouth just two points away from the play-offs and has left fans wondering if the club can make it to Wembley.

The Cherries have been in fine form this season  and have won eight of their last ten games including a similar 3 -1 victory over QPR, now managed by former manager Harry Redknapp, last week.

Redknapp managed the Cherries between 1983 and 1992. His Bournemouth team finished 12th in 1989, a feat current manager Eddie Howe is aiming to surpass.

His team currently sits 9th with five games remaining.

Following the victory over Reading yesterday, Howe has called on the team to make the most of the five games remaining. However, he still maintains that the final place of the play-off might not be as close.

“I know people will talk about it. I can see where we are in the league and how many points off  we are,” he said.

“But I think it’s still in Reading’s hands and if they win their last five games, whatever we do, they will still be ahead of us”.

A fan of the club Yann Coreams  said: “I have seen the team grow. In the beginning they lost a couple of matches and then started playing like a team and I think they have got a serious chance now. Last week, QPR did not have a chance and that shows the Quality of Bournemouth.

“For me they have performed beyond expectation. They have just been promoted to the championship this season, so I wouldn’t have expected them to be fighting for the playoffs this season,” said Godwin Okafor, another fan of the club.

“If they get to the playoffs that will be absolutely great, not just for the team but for the town as well,” he added.

A few others do not want to raise their expectations too much and are satisfied with where the team are at the moment.

“I think now we have the potential of going places” Ross, from Christchurch, said.

“It would be nice to make the play-offs but realistically speaking we won’t do so well going up the log right now.”

The next game for the team is an away match to Yeovil Town, currently at the bottom of the log, on April 12.
