Fire crews were called to St Margaret’s Avenue at around half 10 last night.

There they found a fire in a bedroom on the first floor of a property.

A woman was taken to hospital, where she is currently being treated for minor burns and the effects of breathing in smoke.

While the cause of the fire is currently unknown, an investigation is ongoing.

Dorset and Wiltshire fire and rescue services have asked people to regularly test their smoke alarms and practice good fire safety in their homes.
