Plans for the redevelopment of the Boscombe Center for Community Arts site, currently occupied by protestors, were showcased today at the Boscombe Regeneration Partnership’s (BRP) office.

The plans, which include an arts and culture hub, community orchard, places to grow vegetables and 11 new houses for families can be seen here.

BRP hoped to clarify any misconceptions about the plans and allay fears that the site is to be completely demolished. Under the plans the listed buildings, which include a victorian school house will be retained and developed into a community arts hub. The proposal is for the land to be owned by a Community Land Trust -a non for profit community based organisation run by volunteers- and for the houses built to be owned by the buyers. The CLT will reinvest assets to keep the site maintained and the housing permanently affordable.

The proposed trust will consist of around eight people: four people already on Bournemouth 2026 Development Trust plus four more and a chair.

The event allowed people to put their concerns to those behind the plans.
