Bournemouth University will get new facilities

University will spend most of the money on new buildings and only £4-5m will be spend on the new university academics.

The Breaker talked to BU students about their feelings on the new plan.

Eva Kowalek, Bournemouth University student said: “It is a good idea to put money into improving university standards. However if possible, they should put more money into grants for students. Spending £4-5 million on academics is not enough.”

A huge slice, £110m will be spend on the construction of new buildings for the University.

Freya Toovey, from Bournemouth University commented : “I believe that this is far too much money spend on buildings and facilities. I would like to see more investemnt in academic site of the university.”

But Andrew Clyne, a Psychology student at BU said: “Bournemouth University should put money into refurbishing the campus. I was surprised by the exterior buildings – it definitely needs a good paint. I studied at Kent University before and it was absolutely stunning. We even had a cinema in the campus.”

BU’s current debt is £23m and it has to borrow money to make this plan happen.
