Fans of Poole Town FC hoping for their team to emulate the Cherries’ success were left disheartened last night after the Dolphins succumbed to Cambridgeshire based club St Neots.

The 1-0 defeat in the semi-final play-offs has cost the team their chance for promotion, leaving them in second place in the Southern Football League Premier Division.

Ironically, the Dolphins also suffered their first defeat of the year against the same team.

Dolphins fans started losing hope by the end of the second half, after keeper Bastock unbelievably saved a penalty. The morale got lower and lower in the second half, culminating at the 75 minute mark when Lee Clarke scored the decisive goal for St Neots victory.

Poole Town ranged highly in the Southern League for most of the year, scoring 28 victories over 44 matches played.

After witnessing the defeat, despite their disappointment, Dolphins fans tried to maintain high spirits. The club will be in need for  positive vibes  for its next season in the Southern League, in their quest to be promoted to Conference South football.
