From virtual assistants to self-driving cars, artificial intelligence has already transformed various industries. Now Ai is making its way into the music industry, revolutionising the way we create and consume music. in this article we’ll explore the role of AI in music production, and how it’s changing the game for musicians and music lovers alike.

It is fair to say AI has the potential to dominate the world. Although the thought of AI being used in the creation of Art, like music, script writing, paintings and all other forms of art is seen as a dilution of true creativity, many in the arts world can see the potential AI brings to the scene and how it can have an impact on different forms of expression. Different questions are rising about its effects on the concept of creativity and the role of humans in the artistic process. If AI takes over, do we really need humans to continue producing music or can AI just take over and use previous music forms and works as a foundation to innovate and create new music works, forms, and expressions?

Dr Clifford Enobun who is a music artist and also a medical doctor, said: “Creativity in making music is combining different elements (new and old) to create a unique sound. Ability to create music that interests people.”

Artificial intelligence more popularly known as AI involves the development of software’s and algorithms that can emulate and simulate human processes, such as thinking, reasoning, problem-solving, which can be used to design intelligent systems that can perceive and interact with their environment and elements in their environment in meaningful ways. AI seeks to create intelligent systems that would carry out tasks that usually require human intelligence and decision-making skills.

Now with the introduction of AI, it is being considered that technology could become creative or have creative tendencies. This is mainly because although AI has improved in its ability to recognise patterns and generate new variations, it lacks the emotional intelligence, cultural context, and the creative spark that Musicians embed in their music. “Humans created AI so it’s supposed to be a tool that enhances creativity, not replace it. AI is supposed to help humans, once AI is used as a replacement for human creativity, it removes the soul and essence of creativity,” said Dr Clifford

“The presence of AI In today’s world has provided simplicity and more organisation has to how task are executed and  established . It is clear that AI can replace human creativity . These days, AI can write lyrics to songs , provide preset for music, production and also mix and Master songs. AI can also provide scripts to content creators and actors . Whoever is saying that AI can never replace human creativity should do their findings and carry out research, because the rate at which AI is providing solutions to this crucial issue is wonderful.” says DJ AK7TEM, a student and DJ.

The main advantage AI has when creating music is the ability to easily analyse massive amounts of data to identify patterns and predict trends. This could help music producers create music that would always be a hit with their target audience. “The advancements of AI will definitely impact my creative journey in a positive way because to plan Music promotion won’t be as tedious as it used to be.” said AK7TEM

AI music tools are being used for new songs, cover artwork that are fully ready for uploads to music platforms like Amazon music and Apple music. Some of these tools are Magenta, Orb plugins, Amper, AIVA, Musenet, Jukedeck, Melodrive, Brainfm, Ecrett music, Boomy.

AI can generate innovative ideas that musicians would not normally explore. The main benefit of incorporating AI into music production is its ability to save time on various tasks involved in music production, marketing, and distribution. The time taken to mix and edit can be significantly reduced with the use of AI, therefore giving the musician more time to focus on the more creative part like writing lyrics. This could also be a downside as the demand for unique human sounds would reduce as AI can create unique sounds and compelling music.
