Dorset police officer stabbed

A woman will appear in court after a police officer was stabbed at the Dolphin Shopping Centre in Poole on Saturday afternoon.

A Dorset Police officer has expressed shock after one of his colleagues was stabbed at the Dolphin Shopping Centre in Poole on Saturday afternoon.

Bournemouth Police released a statement saying: “At approximately 1:50 PM on Saturday February 18, a police officer sustained a stab wound to the leg while attending an incident at the Dolphin Centre in Poole.

The officer was taken to Poole Hospital, the injury is not life threatening.”

The 22-year-old woman who was due to appear in Bournemouth Magistrates Court (Monday 20 Feb 2012)  has been charged with wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.

Dorset Police Federation Clive Chamberlain posted on his twitter page: “Knife crime is a real threat – not just to police officers.

“The Police officer stabbed yesterday is the 2nd Dorset police officer to have been stabbed in just over a year which is two too many!”

On the 31st January 2012, Michael Edwards was jailed for 25 years after he stabbed Bournemouth policeman PC Craig Bartlett in Westbourne.
