Giant Tree transforms Bournemouth’s Christmas

We have a brand-new attraction, the Christmas Tree Wonderland

Grace Lovelass, Senior PR & Communications Officer from the Council, said: “This Christmas will be like no one before in Bournemouth because we have a brand-new attraction, the Christmas Tree Wonderland.”

The free trail features over 100 trees, starting from Bournemouth Seafront into the Lower Gardens, towards the town centre. Some of these trees are themed from cities around the world and the centrepiece is a 60ft Christmas tree covered with 30,000 LED lights, which visitors will be able to walk through.

As well as the trees, there will also be illuminations in the shape of a giant teddy bear, polar bears and gingerbread people along the trail.

“There is over £1m investment in the attraction and that comes not only from Bournemouth Council and the tourism events budget but also from our partners,” highlighted Grace.

Bournemouth Council is predicting an estimated half a million people during the festive period.

New designs and bigger spaces

The Alpine Lodge Bar has changes in its interior and an upgrade with a balcony.

Local artists will be performing

Ellie Geddes, Head of Creative from Seventa Events, added: “Every Tuesday we will have a Quiz happening in the Alpine Lodge and every Sunday acoustic sessions where local artists will be performing.”

Santa’s Grotto has also a new design and it has been moved to the band stand in the Lower Gardens, right in the middle of the Christmas Tree Wonderland.

The outdoor ice rink is 30% bigger this year introducing a new path which allows skaters to go off the main rink, and go through the trees, under the lights.

“Our capacity now is over 300 people at the same time,” said Peter Tisdale, Property director of THAT Group and owner of the rink.

The Alpine Market “opens the door” to the possibility of buying genuine pieces to offer or to purchase products with flavours to put on the Christmas table.
