“It’s very difficult for transgender people to take part in sport”

Bournemouth University are taking part in the second annual Football v Homophobia Month of Action which celebrates LGBT+ sport, leisure and well-being.

A two-part event is planned, which includes a football festival and several guest speakers.

It’s hoped that the month of action will promote safe and socially inclusive sport and leisure spaces for the LGBT+ community.

Jayne Caldwell, an associate professor at the university, spoke to the Breaker about the importance of raising awareness:
