‘Poole Trail’ phone service launched
A new mobile phone service has been launched to help people explore Poole and find out about its history.
The Poole Trail scheme is an online service that provides people with historical information depending on their current location in the town.
The scheme uses a system of electronic signposts to locate the person, before giving them text, pictures, video and audio content on the history of their surroundings.
Tourist season starts early
Over a thousand tourists will be checking in to a Poole holiday park for the school’s February half term.
Parkdean’s Sandford Holiday Park, is in Holton Heath which is six miles outside of Poole, it is the only caravan park in Poole that welcomes tourists at this time of year.

BU students get Lost for charity
Bournemouth University students began their weekend by being blindfolded and driven hundreds of miles away from Talbot campus, all to raise money for charity.
Over 150 students participated in this year’s Lost event. Dressed in costumes, armed with just a compass and relying on their instincts and the goodwill of strangers, they had to first figure out where they were, before attempting to make their way back to Bournemouth without spending a penny.
Councillor: NHS merger “not a big deal”
A councillor on the health and social care committee said the Dorset hospital merge “is not a big deal” and patients will benefit.
A 12-week public consultation period started on the 1st February. The public will be consulted on the potential merger between the Poole Hospital foundation trust and the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch hospitals foundation trusts.
